With Halloween right around the corner we thought we would give you a few suggestions if any of you are looking for last minute costume ideas. Enjoy and be safe.
Here is the second installment of Zen postings from my Father...
-"No one is listening until you pass wind." -"Never test the depth of the water with both feet." -"If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you." Attached is the October Men's Style Guide from Kris. This document helps identify the looks and trends we should be supporting in department each month for our main mannequin groupings. In October the trend for the Rail is "Great Outdoors" and for the rest of Men's it is "Refabricated Gentleman". This document is a great resource for your Men's stylist and will assist with showing them inspiration of how to make these trends come to life in your store. It also breaks the trends down by door level as well (Lloyd, Elmer, and Everett). This document lives on NordVM under Dept. Info and this October issue should be posted shortly. Enjoy and we hope it helps.
Sometimes inspiration can come from anywhere. While checking out GQ's newest updates on fashion we found this article about a 105 year old man who set the world record for the oldest competitive sprinter. To put it in perspective as the article says; he was born four years before WWI started, he is only 30 years younger than the lightbulb, and he didn't start running till the young age of 90. If you watch the video you will see he wasn't even close to finishing first, but did put out a blistering time of 42.22 seconds. Based on his consistent pace from start to finish I am pretty sure he has "one speed" (as my dad refers to it), but who is to judge at 105...his smile when he is finished says it all.

If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." -Albert Schweitzer Have a good weekend and Go Hawks! -SD Recently our travels took me to Anchorage for the first time. In addition to working with the great team in the store this trip brought me to one of the most glorious retail environments, Cabela's. For those that aren't familiar, it's an outdoors/hunting store and as they call themselves the "world's foremost outfitter". It is almost to much to take in all the amazing things in one trip, but we sure tried. Attached are some pictures of the wonderful finds they had for us, enjoy...
Due to technical difficulties, your regularly scheduled blog posts from me were delayed. I meant for this one to go out on Friday to kick of the Seahawks season, but it is so good you can watch it at anytime really. If you are not a Seahawks fan (it is ok we forgive you) it is still a good video to get you all excited for the upcoming football season, regardless of your team. Enjoy and Go Hawks!

This blog post is a little overdue, but I wanted to take a second and introduce you to one of the newest members of our Men's VM family...Welcome Christina Stewart. She is new to the Nordstrom Visual world after coming from the Clothing/Furnishings floor. She had never done a UT form before so I thought I would share her first pieces of work after a little training session. As we all know it is never an easy thing to first learn, but practice makes perfect. Welcome Christina to the team! Please click on this link to see what a recently single man does in his spare time (and it's not what you think). It is both funny and inspiring.
http://www.amazingthingss.com/wife-leaves-and-takes-all-but-the-dog-guy-responds-with-incredible-photo-series/ I thought for as part of my blog posts I would share some of the random words of wisdom that I receive from my father (Claude). Here is the first one, enjoy.
